ALFREDO MARCUCCI and Sexteto Veritango

History
The "Orquesta Tipica Veritango" was founded in 1995 when several musicians met around the argentinian bandoneon master Alfredo Marcucci in Belgium. Later the group was extended with other professional musicians at the Music Academy of Ixelles (Brussels) where the orchestra consolidated its interpretation of tango music under the direction of Alfredo Marcucci. Since then, the orchestra has been performing on most Western European countries.

Repertoire
The repertoire of the Veritango ensemble contains about 60 tangos, milongas and walses that are particularly well adapted for dancing events. The different arrangements lend themselves equally well to concert performances and are inspired by the tango styles of the 30s and 40s (d'Arienzo, Di Sarli, de Caro,...) as well as by the more modern movements like this initiated by Astor Piazzolla and Osvaldo Pugliese. The orchestra often works together with different singers.

Alfredo Marcucci

Alfredo Marcucci began playing bandoneon at a very early age under the guidance of his uncle, the renowned bandoneon-player Carlos Marcucci, and developed his feeling for tango in the Buenos Aires of the thirties (Café Concert, Night Club, etc.) At eight years old he played for the famous tango composer Julio de Caro who lavishly praised the virtues of this young talent and took him as his pupil. He was invited to join the Julio de Caro orchestra at 18, together with his uncle. This was to be the beginning of a brilliant career. He also played in many other orchestras: Raúl Camplún, Osvaldo Donatto, Enrique Franccini, Juan Canaro, etc. In 1956 he joined the famous Carlos di Sarli orchestra with which he made many recordings. He was asked to join Baltazar Benitez in 1990 to form a duo for bandoneon and guitar.
