Biography
Claudio Constantini began his musical studies at age 13 with the piano. Soon after that he entered the National Conservatory of Lima, Perú (his home country) and won the third place in the National Bela Bartok piano
competition. In the conservatory he was a pupil of his father, Gerardo Constantini.
Many events followed after his enrollment at the conservatory: his solopiano debut, his debut as soloist with orchestra, winner of the National
Conservatory competition for two consecutive years, etc. In 2001 he won the first prize in the International Litmann competition, New York.
In 2001 he also met his future wife, Finnish violinist Suvi Myöhänen, with whom he formed ensembles that are very active.
In 2002 he was accepted in the Lahti Polytechnic Faculty of Music, Finland, where he continued his studies with Lauri Väinmaa, and later Raija Kerppo.
The following year he decided to go deeper into a genre of music that awoke a great interest and passion in him; the Argentinean Tango. He formed an ensemble in Finland called Milonga del Norte and learned to play the bandoneón. With the Milonga del Norte group, he won the 1st prize in the International Astor Piazzolla Music Award, Italy, in 2005.
In 2006 Claudio and Suvi moved to Rotterdam, The Netherlands, where they study at the Argentinean tango faculty of the Rotterdam Conservatory,
apart from doing free-lance work as musicians. In the school they study about the different existing styles and ways of playing in tango, but in practice Claudio focuses on doing his own compositions and arrangements, and on performing either new, or relatively unknown works.
Through the years, Claudio Constantini has played numerous recitals and concerts with orchestra's, with both piano and bandoneón, in countries
such as Perú, U.S.A., Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Russia, etc.
In 2008, Claudio was awarded with the HSP Huygens scholarship, a prestigios scholarship awarded to pursue the Master's degree studies in Classical piano. Therefore, Claudio will start his Master degree studies in
september 2008 at the Rotterdam Conservatory with Maestro Aquiles Delle Vigne as teacher.
As I know him very well as artist and nice collegue I expect him to grow into a great master on piano and Bandoneón. (Luc Van Gestel)
